My Patients' Favorite Foods--Ideas for You to Try Too

It is very easy to get into a rut of eating the same thing every day. Even when you get bored of having the same foods over an over, it can still be hard to get out of your comfort zone and try new foods. I am here to say, give it a try! Here are some great meal ideas my patients gave me that I will share with you.

  • Tuna in pepper. Prepare a can of tuna with mayonnaise and sriracha. Wash and cut the top off and remove the insides of a pepper. Add the tuna to the pepper. Top with broken pretzels for added texture.

  • Oatmeal with lentils. Prepare steel cut oats and brown lentils in soup broth. Season with everything bagel seasoning and top with diced avocado.

  • Waffles with toppings. Prepare whole wheat waffles in the toaster. Smear with natural peanut butter or almond butter. Top with sliced bananas, strawberries, or blueberries.

  • Yogurt parfait with dried fruit and seeds. Top plain Greek yogurt with dates, raisins, pumpkin seeds, and chia seeds. The fruit add a pleasant sweetness and the seeds add a yummy crunch.

  • Elevated cheese sandwich. Spread goat cheese on sourdough bread. Top with sliced cucumbers, and season with salt and pepper.

My patients have some of the best ideas of food to eat. Because we all have our usual habits, we can look to others for new and interesting ideas. If you looked at these ideas and thought that you would never eat those foods, give it another though! Consider trying something that is new or unusual to you. You never know how it can open up your world.
